WELCOME TO THE VERTIGO ZINE WEBSITE.
Welcome to the Vertigo Zine website. We (Bruce, Steve and Mark) did 6 issues of this zine up to about 1998, at the rate of about 1 a year I think, in between gig and club promoting and general stupidness. It was pretty well received at the time and we did print runs of anything between 100 and 500, mostly sold down the Freebutt to people who pitied us or alongside a table of zines at our own gigs, or swapped with other zinesters. The later issues also sold quite well through Factsheet Five so these ones reached all over the world.
Vertigo got progressively better as time went on - we started out pretty much as a music fanzine, but by Issue 4 it was starting to dawn on us that most bands, despite having a talent for expressing themselves well through their music, were just very nice, rather boring people and totally un-rock and roll and had very little of interest to say off-stage. We, on the other hand, had far more interesting and important things we wanted to shout about, so by the time Issue 6 rolled of the presses we had instigated a total ban on band interviews. Issue 6 subsequently kicked arse more than any issue preceding it - we had found the perfect zine formula! So, for some reason that no-one really remembers, we discontinued it.
Anyway, we had a website a long time ago but this got lost in the mists of time until we recently found all the old files tucked away in a long forgotten spot on one of our computers. So here on this website, for your enjoyment, is the incomplete content of all our back issues, we thought some sad bastard somewhere might be interested.
All Vertigo content was anti-copyright at the time, and remains so. The Zine Scene stuff was probably copyrighted by Impact magazine in whose pages it originally appeared, I don't know. It's all out of print now anyway. Don't ask us to change any content just 'cos it's on the web, everything on this site was taken from original printed material and there are no plans to update anything.
