MELTING VINYLThe first Melting Vinyl zine from local promoters Anna and Steve (Vertigo) is a program from the first ever Melting Vinyl gig down Bar Centro, a huge fanzine and music all dayer featuring Superstar Disco Club, Trout, I'm Being Good, Cee Bee Beaumont, Male Nurse, Space Kittens, Dominic Waxing Lyrical, Magoo, Mogwai and the formidable Bette Davis and the Balconettes. The zine has an unusual take in that most of the bands involved are interviewed by one of the other bands on the bill. There is also info on some of the labels who had stalls on the day, but no mention whatsoever of the Club Piao! catering-core team who, ably assisted by the Vertigo chefs, kept everyone happily munching away on freshly made bagels all day, yum yum! Recent Melting
Vinyl gig goers have been presented with a free zine
about the bands playing on the night and other issues.
Created by Stephen Drennan, the first of these was for
Gilded 'Lil. The second give-away zine was about The
Pastels, Donner Und Blitzen and the Awkward Dancers,
followed by a third for Dominic Waxing Lyrical and Coping
Saw. Stephen Drennan also did Stephen's Little Book of Charity
Shopping,
which has just been re-released by Slab-o-Concrete. Melting Vinyl recently did an underground music festival, the Brighton Crawl, another all day
underground music festival taking in the likes of Turn
On, Kreidler, Jad Fair, Buffalo Daughter, Bis and dozens
