ROOT DOWN

Root Down is a subject specific zine dealing with one of life's most important matters: The Funk. A one man project thus far, Root Down caught Afrika Bambaata down local venue, The Concorde, for a lengthy interview, along with War (minus Eric Burdon) and New Kingdom. One of the highlights is the article on Afro-Funk, a great introduction to, among others, 'Africa's very own James Brown', the late Fela Kuti. Along with tips on finding those pre-'78 funky singles, this is aimed at both those in the know and funky newbies alike. This man truly is 'Giving Up Food For Funk'.
