SUBCULTURE

Informative and well produced local tape zine, issue 1 has chats with Delicatessen, Lydia Lunch, Kim Deal, Goya Dress, Chavez, Bandit Queen and an old Julian Cope archive interview plus stuff on local graffiti art and queerzines. Issue 2 has Echobelly, Big Black, Lush, Scheer, David Toop, Pusherman, Chumbawamba, Ezene cervenka and Perfume plus zine reviews. A major benefit of this format is that you get snippets of the bands in action as well as spoken word stuff. The production is truly professional, done from Brighton's CROW community radio workshop, but there's no reason why anyone out there couldn't tape one in their bedroom with a portable cassette recorder, toy microphone and some creativity. Let's see some more like this!
